We are pleased to announce the 5th Annual University of Regina Cougar Athletics Fundraising Dinner will be held at Queensbury Centre on Wednesday, March 25th, 2009. The Cougars participate in CIS competition in men’s and women’s hockey, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, track & field and cross-country, as well as women’s soccer. There are approximately two hundred and twenty Cougar athletes proudly representing the University of Regina and our community. The University of Regina Cougar coaches and athletes are building a proud tradition of athletic and academic excellence! Over the past four years, this event has raised over $250,000 for scholarship, endowment, and competitive enhancement. The purpose of this letter is to invite you to join us in our efforts to propel this strong tradition to even greater heights.
• Did you know that there were 55 Academic All-Canadians among Cougar CIS teams over the 2007-08 season?
• Did you know that there were 8 Cougar Athletes who were medalists in their individual disciplines during the 2007-08 season?
• Did you know that our teams have been consistently in Canada West playoffs and National championship competition the past several years?
Of equal importance to the academic and athletic success of these athletes, is the long term benefit our community sees when these well-rounded, disciplined professionals graduate after four or five years of high-level academic study and sporting competition. Our city and province benefits from the talent, work-ethic, discipline, winning attitude and leadership that these young people exhibit! Join us in ensuring that this legacy to our community will continue to grow! Our purpose is to raise funds that will be used directly for scholarship, endowment, and competitive enhancement.
You can support excellence in athletics and academics by sponsoring the U of R Cougar Fundraising Dinner or by purchasing one or more tables to attend this outstanding event. We have attached the sponsorship information to this letter for your review or you can visit our website at www.uofrcougardinner.ca for more information or to order your tickets. Tables of eight will be $1000 plus GST and individual tickets will be $125 plus GST. The dinner is an exciting event which features fabulous food and a high profile keynote speaker. Past speakers have included Brian Burke, Ron MacLean, Dick Irvin, and Catriona LeMay Doan. Look for the announcement of our 2009 speaker in the New Year!
